30 day Focused Prayer
Each day through the month of November, we will share a brief prayer focus. Whether you choose to spend a few minutes or much longer in prayer each day, we believe that as we come together in unity of heart and spirit to seek our King, God will align our hearts and our church with Him and that we will be personally transformed through this daily habit of prayer.
Week 4 - Gratitude and Thanksgiving
Nov 21st - I am grateful for Jesus and the Grace of God
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love - not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. 1 John 4:9-10
There is nothing that we could do to repair our broken relationship with God. But Jesus’ willingness to die for our sins made it possible. Today, we pray prayers of gratitude for what Jesus has undeservedly done for us.
Nov 22nd - I am grateful for family
There is nothing else like the love and bond of family. Today we are grateful for the families of our birth and of our choosing, but also for the greater Family of God that we have been adopted into.
Nov 23rd - I am grateful for beauty
The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Psalm 19:1
Everywhere we look, we can see the hand of God in the beauty of His creation, the smile of a child, the lines in the face of a loved one. Today, notice the beauty around you and give thanks.
Nov 24th - I am grateful for joy and laughter
We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the Lord has done for them.” Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us! What joy! Psalm 126:2-3
Joy and laughter are given by God! Savor the simple joys and revel in laughter today. Do not let them pass you by. And give thanks to God for the lightness of these gifts.
Nov 25th - I am grateful that God provides
What is the price of five sparrows - two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.” Luke 12: 6-7
We can live in peace and security, trusting that God will provide for all of our needs. Today, thank God for all that he has given you, how he provides for the needs of you and your family. Ask for His help to trust Him with areas where you have a need.
Nov 26th - I am grateful for hop
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” Revelation 21:3-4
No matter what we face in this life, as a Jesus-follower there is ALWAYS HOPE. We know the end of the story! Today, thank God that in every circumstance you face, you can trust that there is more to come and that God has good plans for his people.
Nov 27th - I notice the things I take for granted and am grateful
Today is about taking a pause and noticing the things that are easy to forget. Do that now, in this moment. Pause, and reflect on the things you often take for granted. Those things, too, are a gift from God. Thank him for those things today.
Week 5 - Our own hearts
Nov 28th - Personal surrender today
He must become greater and greater, I must become less and less. John 3:30
Are there areas, today, that you need the help and direction of the Holy Spirit? Today, surrender again the areas that are too easily taken control of. God is faithful, and he will not leave you without help.
Nov 29th - Personal needs today
You parents - if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. Matthew 7:9-11
There is nothing in your life that escapes the sight and care of your heavenly Father. Bring your needs to Him today. Hold nothing back. You can be confident that he hears you and will meet you in your need.
Nov 30th - Personal filling of the Holy Spirit
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Galatians 5:22-25
Are you hungry for more of the Spirit of God? He has begun a great work of transformation in you, and He is not done! Today, pray for a new and fresh filling of the Spirit in your life. Pray that as He works in you that the fruits of the Spirit would become more and more evident, pointing others to the goodness of God.
