Handler Assistant

REPORTS TO: ShareStuff Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist and occasionally drive company vehicle making pickup/deliveries on scheduled routes. Help driver maintain cleanliness of the truck, front and back. Is responsible for inspecting, repairing, cleaning, pricing, and conveying donations, new inventory, storage materials, and salvaged goods to appropriate areas within the store, as well as baling textiles..

agencies and groups.

●Ability to prioritize assigned work and work individually and with a team.
●Ability to safely navigate designated donation routes.
●Have a valid Illinois Driver’s license and clean driving record.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
●Assist Driver in all duties
●Customer Service, number one you represent Sharestuff (phone etiquette)
●Go to various locations picking up and delivering donations for the Sharestuff Stores.
●Assist with schedule and routes.
●Assist Driver to load and unload furniture and household items.
●Maintains a high level of communication with the Driver and Sharestuff Management Team.
●Assists the driver to checks fluids, air pressure, wiper blades and fuel levels in company vehicles and assists with
general maintenance of the delivery vehicle to keep it in good running order.
●Ensuring that trucks are clean, swept and ready for use at the start of the next work day.
●Operate material storage and handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner while loading, unloading or
moving materials within the stores, loading dock to and from the truck.
●Maintain dock, sorting areas and other storage areas in a neat and orderly manner.
●Time not spent performing pickup/delivery duties will be spent at the Thrift Store performing assigned donation
handler tasks/duties.
●Clean, price and place furniture in front of store.
●Provides accurate information and friendly professional service to the public and to coworkers in a responsive,
positive, courteous, truthful and tactful manner. This also includes taking and making phone calls.
●Assist in maintaining the process of donated merchandise. This includes but not limited to pre-sorting donations
and moving to production area workstations within both stores
●Assist donors and customers with unloading and loading items into their vehicles.
●Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and volunteers at
all times.
●Greet customers and present a positive public image for the organization.
●Promote positive teamwork among co-workers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must stand, walk, lift, bend and stoop frequently to perform duties. Have the ability to perform prolonged strenuous physical activity, including lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds alone or up to 100 pounds with the help of fellow employees for short distances.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
●Fast-paced and changing workload.
●Must be available and willing to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and attend mandatory training and meetings
as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
●Ability to work in changing climates, heat, cold and rain.
●Flexible work schedule, retail is fluid.
